~ May's reviews will be posted shortly !!  -- Seldom ~

Editor's Forward:

Yes, it doesn't happen so often on Cosmic, but Hans gives a one-star review (he was in fact poised on a black hole for a bit, but the author of The Magic of the Soul won the Star for his excellent writing style).

And yes, spring is in the air - the Bees are back and one of life's most interesting creatures is presented in a very Cosmic fashion in a review presented by 'The Rev' our Spirituality reviewer.

The Magic of the Soul

by Patrick J. Harbula

Cosmic Thoughts from our Human Consciousness Reviewer Hans:

Not enough can be said, or written, to guide us all on to the path of a more conscious reality. No matter what the language, who wrote it or why, essentially the important aspect is that truth has been delivered and that a better tomorrow may exist just because someone decided that they had what it would take to deliver just that message.

Yes! That is the feeling you may be left with once you’ve finished reading Magic of the Soul. Beautiful title, catchy and all, and so much more than you could ask for, if transforming your life is what you are looking for. What’s to be admired about the book is that Patrick J. Harbula in a very down to earth way, and almost naïve manner, manages to deliver this message so perfectly.

If you are a freshman, just embarking on the spiritual, transformative school of life, then this book will rock your world and by all means then… PICK IT UP … but have you already studied and read some of the greatest teachers on the metaphysics such as Troward, Emerson even Tolle then you may be put off by the extensive ”I” language and the once again “I” language as well as the simple, which by its own standard may be viewed brilliantly, however are juvenile exercises.

The book in itself has been turned into a course, which is offered by various New Thought churches and, yours truly, participated in one of them. The course started out with 24 participants, with seven left by the last class, with only one speculating the reason being for that would be the book and the course simply didn’t deliver.

In all fairness there are gems hidden within the text that may provide clarity, but one has to be VERY patient to find them. If patience is you then you will love this piece of work, however if not then you may find yourself more frustrated than liberated, and then you are better off leaving it alone … I’ll let it be your choice.

To Bee or Not to Bee

John Penberthy

Cosmic Thoughts from our Spirituality Reviewer

Rev Doreen:

Buzz Bee, is a bee that is on a Spiritual Journey - the Hero's Journey as a matter of fact !  What a beautiful (bee-utiful!) story, simply and wonderfully written, and a delight to read. It is short and sweet, cleverly written and powerfully Spiritual.

No matter where go you, There you are.  The book is filled gems such as this one, and the story is truly inspirational no matter whether you are reading it for yourself or reading it to your children.  One Bee's search for meaning to life, his search for God, takes him to - his inner self, that Divine bit that is inside each of us, that taps us on the shoulder (or perhaps a wing) and asks us to awaken.

The tedium of a worker bee so illustrates the treadmill existence of so many lives; Buzz and a mentor bee - Bert - explore  together the unexpected happenstances in the honeybee's life, and illustrate the divine oneness that provides fulfillment, even to a honeybee like Buzz.  The illustrations so complement this writing, and provide a heart warming image to accompany the prose.

Life's challenges for a Bee cause Buzz to be asking all kinds of questions, the same questions asked by a person seeking Spiritual answers.  And can there be a better questioner than a Bee?  John Penberthy has chosen a fabulous subject for this Spiritual work.  Bees are life's perfect creation.  They cause the bearing of fruit by their pollinating, bringing sweetness to life.  They cause us to ask questions outside of logic - bumble bees really don't appear to be built to fly but they do so gracefully and perfectly.  Their recent loss from wildlife has sensitized humanity to the plight of bees, and perhaps our own plight as well.  What a beautiful way to bring this most Spiritual message.
