You Can Heal Your Life
Author:
Louise Hay
The personal story of Louise Hay is both
incredible and inspirational, and an excellent testimony for the work in her
book. The illustrations are
wonderful, very warm, and loving. The
book provides incredible insight into the mental patterns that create dis-ease,
and provides solutions that will turn these into healing mental patterns that
create well being.
Follow her advice (Suggestions to Readers) to
read through the book once, then slowly read it again + do the exercises in
depth. It is not easy to read,
especially if you’ve never been exposed to the concept that our thoughts
create. But it does pay off to
be persistent, open, and curious when reading the book. Go back to the areas that seem to ‘make sense’ (even if
it’s only ‘faintly’ making sense), and focus on these first.
DON’T purchase this book as a gift to
someone who is sick. However, DO
show them your copy, verbally give them your recommendations, and let them
decide if it is for them or not. Persons
who are suffering, particularly those who have been suffering for some time, may
be offended to read that they are the cause of their own suffering, and this may
cause them further distress. If
they are indeed ready for the information in Louise’s book, they will choose
to read it when you offer to lend it to them (or they may initially say no, but
then something may ‘twig’ them the next time they are in a library or book
store and they will pick it up then).
Most powerful insight: The exercise ‘I Approve of My Self’. This affirmation is repeated three or four hundred
times a day at least. And No
it is not too many times. When you
are worrying, you go over your problem at least that many times…..!!!!!
It is tough initially to do. But
with persistence, it does pay off in such a powerful way.
From my personal experience with this
affirmation, it has been truly amazing, because when you follow through, you
will slowly begin to notice that others will begin to treat you differently –
they will begin to approve of you too!!!
Key Thought:
Be willing to change. Learn
the ‘spiritual laws’ and follow them, you cannot bend them to your
old way of thinking.
Ponderings:
You may not agree with everything in this book.
But, know that the parts that you don’t agree with --- are the very
areas in which you need to be working on - you just aren’t ready yet!!!
Re-read the book after working through some of the exercises and you
might be surprised to find that you are warming up to the areas you previously
disagreed with.
