Editor's Forward:
Well we have quite the
mixed bag of goodies for our readers. Some timeless classics - a
foundational work in manifesting - meditating, reviewed by Hans Knepp.
The other two reviews are from Dr Memhotep, one also a classic work and
the other - a surprising insight from a source that at first glance
doesn't seem quite so cosmic.........

Practicing the Presence
by Joel S. Goldsmith
Can a book be meditative? At
first you may say no, but I’d have to argue that it can be, and
especially after having read Joel Goldsmith’s Practicing the Presence.
Way before Eckhart Tolle’s 'The power of Now' and
'Stillness Speaks'. Joel Goldsmith wrote this classic
book, which in itself transcends time and space and forever will be a book
that’ll speak to all ages, and launched it in the most provocative way,
saying you don’t have to ask for anything when you align yourself with
Spirit. By doing so everything has already been given to you and in the
sense of being still within yourself that is where you’ll find it.
Think about it…never again is
it necessary to ask for that new job, the perfect relationship or more
money, because within the mind of spirit it already exists and you live
inside of it, all you need to do is just connect with it and you that by
becoming still. It is here the book becomes meditative, as his writing is
fluent, simple and absolutely easy to understand. It is by no means a
snore fest, but indeed inspirational in its own way.
The book was first published in
1958 and it does use the word God frequently as well as references to the
bible, but do not let this deter you from reading it as it is a timeless
classic and one of those books that could easily change your life.

This book presents a classic series
of past life regressions from viewpoint of traditional psychotherapist who
undergoes a Spiritual journey as a result of sessions with one of his patients.
Many Lives Many Masters is the first
of many excellent books by this amazing man who began as a traditional
psychotherapist, and has experienced a Spiritual awakening as a result of his
research done on the experiences of his patients, in particular ‘Catherine’.
He portrays his awakening to the incredible journey that this type of healing
offers, both for the patient and for the therapist.
A young woman is referred to Dr Weiss
after developing anxiety to such an extent she thought she was losing control
over her life. She begins intensive therapy, and much work is done on her
life experiences. But to no avail, as her anxiety remained and was
intensifying. Dr Weiss used hypnotherapy takes her further and further
back in her life, even back to the age of two. But to no avail.
Finally, he asks her to ‘go to the time from which your symptoms arise’ and
got stunning results, as she goes back into a past life and recounts traumatic
experiences during this time period. Neither of them knew what to make of it at
that moment. But amazingly enough the following week some of her
symptoms had indeed disappeared! This story brings out the essence of the
power of this type of healing – the healing of traumatic events by bringing
them out from the subconscious, into conscious awareness and walking through
them. It is an incredible release and is so holistically restorative to
us. An incredible journey ensues between patient and therapist.
Both are brave souls, for back in 1980 - this was a time where these issues were
not widely known and definitely not recognized in psychiatric profession.
With Many Lives Many Masters, Dr
Weiss ‘peeks’ into the metaphysical/spiritual realm, then with the series of
books following he just dives right in! These books progress in such a way
that you can see this journey that he has so eloquently shared with us all; he
reveals the intricate and elegant nature of our life/lives. You can find

Huh??
why are the Cosmic
Reviewers presenting this book? Well it is this line that gets us:
'What's the highest and best use of my self'?
His story – Lance is a cancer
survivor. His cancer was very serious, he had brain and testicular surgery
and extensive chemo to treat testicular cancer that that had spread to his brain
and lungs (yes, this is usually fatal). But – incredibly the cancer is
beaten and he still survives past the landmark ‘5 year’ timepoint (the
cancer did not recur 5 years after remission). Yes, this in itself
is an incredible story. However Lance resumes his career in professional
cycling and goes on to train for, and win the most grueling of athletic events,
the Tour de France. Such an inspiration to athletes and cancer victims to
make this achievement after first beating cancer! So you are wondering
about the cosmic aspect - it comes next.
Lance asks 'What's the highest and
best use of my self'? to himself, after first asking 'Now that I know I'm
not going to die, what will I do?. His highest and best use of
his self – is to keep at it. Continue his career, continue the
aspiration of excellence, continue to win and inspire others. Which he
did!
Lance's experience is not just another
kind of ‘near death experience’ in the cosmic sense (leaving the body, going
to a white light, gaining insights on the meaning of your life from divine
sources). Lance has done this himself without the cosmic jump – he
‘sucked it up’ and looked inside himself and decided that he would find out
what it would take to make himself feel alive, to do things that made him feel
alive. Like having a child (incredibly he now has three by IVF).
Like jumping off a 50 foot cliff into a pool of freaking cold water. Like
winning not just the toughest cycling event – but winning it 7 times
consecutively. This book is a personal peek into the psyche of someone who
transformed their life after facing death. The spirit to not just live,
but to be an inspiration to so many. Tormented by doubt that he had not
beaten the cancer, that it would return at any moment. Driven to
excellence, to perform, not just for himself but for everyone; winning a
grueling race, not just once, but again, and again! And inspiring not only
other athletes but everyone fighting cancer. There’s no metaphysical
talk here, no talk of Godly inspiration – but you can just feel it surfacing
and permeating his life through the words in his book. The best use of his
life - well done indeed !
Dr Memhotep thinks this book is quite
the story of healing and the power of Spirit! This link gives an excellent
history for Lance:
