Yes,
another in the Seth series appears this month as Meru provides an
excellent review of one in a series of truly remarkable books, The
Seth Material. Of late, many lightworkers are experiencing
expanded states of awareness, and to be able to verify these experiences
not only as real - but actually as our natural
state is quite an astounding
thing. What a service Seth, Jane Roberts and Robert Butts
have provided in making their work public for all of us to benefit from!
We
also have a classic piece of work from an icon of Mythology - Joseph
Campbell 'The Power of Myth'. We've been after our 'The Universe'
reviewer to present this
review for some time and we are quite happy to post this thought-provolking
review.
Our webmaster Seldom has undergone the Hero's Journey as he
battled with both a flu bug and a bug in the web server.... we kept him
going with some 'Spiritual Warrior' Bij tea and he overcame both bugs to
provide our posts for March..........
Seth (as channeled by Jane
Roberts) is most definitely the Spiritual Teacher that launched The New
Age, and how appropriate for a 'Personality Essence' to do this. As
illustrated in February's review of another Seth book 'The Eternal
Validity of the Soul', Seth the 'energy personality essence' is an entity
no longer focused in physical matter, and he is here to
remind us of truths that we have forgotten (that we are veiled
from).
Raymond Van Over, a scholar who
specializes in oriental religion and literature, mythology, and also
writes in psychology (and parapsychology) - has written a wonderful Intro
to this book whereby he announces that essentially Seth's writings will
turn the traditional idea of mediumship on it's butt. Traditional
thinking regarding mediums brings to mind a lady bedecked in exotic
clothing, skulking in dark corners, waiting to bilk her clients of their
hard earned $$. Acknowledging that there are some of these around,
and that this hardly presents a complete picture, it has become clear that
mediumship experiences are complex, part of a larger phenomenon of
'altered states of consciousness' [now known as an expanded state of
awareness].
The info brought forth during
Jane Roberts expanded state of awareness is extraordinarily helpful to
those seeking to expand their own awareness, for those seeking discovery
of their inner self, those on a Spiritual Journey, and to those finding
their path or purpose [really these are all the very same thing].
The material presented includes detail of who Seth is, and presents also
Seth's higher self (who Jane and Robert call 'Seth 2'). Also through
Jane's critical eye, their collaboration with other psychical researchers
serves to validate the Seth experiences. And most importantly, the gain of perspective
on a difficult and astounding topic - our multidimensional nature.
This is truly an important work
at this time, as many, especially those known as 'lightworkers' are
experiencing psychic experiences as their multidimensional nature is
awakening. This body of work provides a resource,
in depth explanations and a way to validate these experiences and move
forward to develop them further. The entire book is a 'Golden
Nugget' for those who are fortunate enough to come across a copy of it !
The Power of Myth
Joseph Campbell
with Bill Moyers
Joseph Campbell's enduring work in
the field of mythology has been captured into this book, a conversation with
Bill Moyers (a noted journalist) as questioner who is conversing with Joseph
Campbell. The powerful nature of myth is revealed by questioning along
various life experience themes. This is not a book for the timid of
thought, as it is very mind expanding and thought provoking - fodder for all
those intellectually and philosophically minded. If you understand the
symbolism of the Tarot or Jung's archetypes, then you're ready for Joseph
Campbell's works !
Having said that, I had to have my
arm twisted to pick up this book and I'm now so grateful to the arm
twister. My previous regard for myth was that it was a fabrication created
to divert attention from real issues. As reading the lively conversation
between Bill and Joseph, the concept of myth - as a poetic rendition providing
the foundation of the human experience - was birthed. Each of our
individual collection of life experiences is presented as the Hero's Journey,
our ability to awaken and control the irrational savage that seems endemic to
human nature. Through exploration of many themes comes the realization
that the origins of al life experiences are rooted in myth.
So how is this a Cosmic Theme?
Ah well, it is the concept that there is a real but invisible plane supporting
the visible one that so catches our attention. It is just so interesting
that it often takes a cataclysm such as a great tree falling 'whump' down in
front of us to make us stop for a while so we can catch wind of the invisible
workings of the Universe that try to catch our attention for our greater
good. And that is the stuff of Heros, for all of us are Heros, finding our
way through the myriad of experiences that constitute our lives here on earth.
Some of the themes explored include
Myth and the Modern World, where information from ancient times carries
through to today, information that supports life experiences, that has
built civilizations, informed religions, to give you insights on what's
happening in your own life. The Journey Inward explores how myths speak
about the deep mystery of yourself and everything else. The First
Storytellers delves into Greek myths of humanity and the glory of beautiful
youth; death and restoration from the American Indians and their buffalo tales,
the South Africans and the Antelope. And the Hero's Adventure, 'The Great
Way', a certain hero sequence of actions which can be detected in stories all
over the world, for example the founders of all religions - Buddha, Jesus,
Moses, to name just a few.
We can all learn from the adventures
of The Hero, as these are the adventures of just being alive ! Just stop
and listen for a moment, the appropriate myth will speak to you, don't wait for
the tree to fall in front of you !!
