May 2007
(new reviews coming June 3....)
Editor's Forward:
Well we have twisted our 'The Universe'
reviewer's arm once again and garnered a review for May's posting to
Cosmic (much to our delight!). This reviewer is wonderfully
mysterious, much like the quantum world in which we are manifested, and
this time he is jettisoning a book into the nearest black hole !
'The Journey' promises to be an astounding
read, and Dr. Beverly Steinbeck has delivered her insights into the
miraculous healing journey of Brandon Bays (and others). A must read
for all those who believe we all have the capability of healing ourselves
(and an awakening for those who do not believe this is so!).
A foundational work by Deepak also presented
for May's reviews by Hans Knepp, our Human Consciousness reviewer.
As you may have noticed, Deepak's books are in the hands of more
than a few of our reviewers !

The Secret

by Rhonda Byrne
Cosmic Thoughts from our
'The Universe' Reviewer:

!!!
Unless you’ve been living under
a rock for the past two years you ought to by now be familiar with the
world wide phenomenon called The Secret. The movie that swept the
continents across the world with it’s not so secret message about the
law of attraction.
Where the movie was uplifting
and inspirational, the book is a waste of time.
Kudos to Rhonda Byrne for
actually using the law of attraction and selling millions of copies of
this poorly written book, blatantly obvious she wrote it to cash in on the
success of the movie, but quite frankly the book is an insult to any
intelligent human being, not because of it’s message, which is
wonderful, but because of it’s third grade appearance.
If you are one of the
unfortunate ones who have already bought it then wrap it up for Christmas
and tell people you bought it for your three year old niece or nephew. If
you didn’t buy it then perhaps you’d still want to, for your three
year old niece or nephew that is, and believe me they’d be able to read
it on the their own and they’d love all the nice pictures, but better
yet, why not check out some of the more intelligent books on the same
topic, such as the works by Thomas Troward, Emerson, Ernest Holmes,
Napoleon Hill, Joseph Murphy and the list goes on.
Don’t waste your money on
this one unless you really, really want to. The only one who’s having a
field trip with this particular use of the law of attraction is Rhonda
Byrne.

Have you ever had a book
stalking you? You know one of those situations where no matter where you
go, or whichever corner you turn this particular book stares you in the
face and to the point where you actually begin to get irritable and quite
annoyed? I have and in this particular case the book is The Journey by
Brandon Bays.
Every time I would see this
book I’d go “Oh God! Not another self help book, which promises to
cure all your ailments in the blink of an eye”. I’d look at this book
and go, “Please just forget it I am not picking you up, I am not reading
you, and I am not falling for this conspiracy act you are putting on”. I
was determined this book wasn’t going to get to me, but as you have
probably already guessed, since this is a review of the book it’s
scheming plot won me over…and I am so happy it did.
The last trick of them all was
I actually got to meet Brandon Bays and hear her talk in person and I was
blown away. This woman is remarkable and down to earth and she is
genuinely someone who wants to help and I was completely taken.
You may ask “what is so
wonderful about her and her book?” In 1992 Brandon Bays was diagnosed
with a tumor the size of a basketball in her uterus and within 6 ½ weeks
this tumor was completely gone and without surgery or medications, Brandon
Bays healed herself with what is now known as The Journey Work. Her book
The Journey is a heartfelt account of how she created this program out of
pure necessity and a will to survive. It is full of inspirational stories
from people who have done The Journey and now live healthy lives and most
important of all it takes you through the process so you can begin your
own healing.
I read this book in a couple of nights and I
wept the whole way through, because it speaks the truth. I have done the
exercises outlined in the book, on myself and with loved ones, and it is
powerful, so if there’s a book you would want to stalk you this is the
one, but better yet, pick it up for your own healings sake.

Creating Health: Beyond
Prevention, Toward Perfection

Author:
Deepak Chopra
Written in 1987 by Deepak Chopra when
he was still in medical practice at the New England Memorial Hospital in Boston.
The book is dedicated to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, so even if you don’t
know Deepak, you will still know that this book is extraordinary.
Insights into the maladies that cause
ill health, and as ever present in Deepak's books – a perfectly holistic
description of our ‘natural state’ or ‘perfect health’, which is the
state of perfect physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being.
This is a handbook of how to live every moment of joy and zest for life,
fulfillment, harmony, ever youthful.
Dramatic (and quite interesting) case
histories are presented that exemplify the mind-body connection, and how we can
create health using our thoughts (usually combined with an opening of the mind
created by some kind of extenuating circumstances).
Also demonstration of how we can create disease by our thoughts as well.
Deepak expands on the theme of
creating health from our thoughts, to the human mind itself.
The Maharishi calls the human mind a ‘reservoir of intelligence’ and
human thought ‘impulses of creative intelligence’.
Deepak explains the mechanism behind thoughts actually creating.
When thoughts or impulses of creative intelligence are organized well
enough they easily lead to creative action, and through positive and creative
action we have outward manifestations like books, objects and – healthy
bodies.
Excellent advice also for diet and
creating health, also intertwined holistically with spirituality and the
infinite intelligence of the universe – and again, our thoughts.
Eating with awareness – or perhaps ‘conscious eating’ allows us to
break bad eating habits and to channel good eating habits.
Ending off with creation and the
‘new physics’ which was very much in it’s infancy at the time of the
writing of this book, and although presented as having popular acceptance at the
time – it is really only now reaching popular acceptance and understanding.
A pioneer in harnessing the synergy between human spirituality and modern
physics, Deepak’s visionary talents have created a foundational work in
mind-body-spirit or holistic health.
