Emerson’s Essays

by Ralph
Waldo Emerson
Once in awhile going back in
time, picking up a must read classic on spiritual laws and the law of
attraction, may just be the most rewarding experience one can have, as
well as an eye opening experience. It is rewarding because here is a
chance to rediscover a language that is almost long forgotten and eye
opening because back then they already knew. There’s absolutely no need
to religiously go after the new self proclaimed experts on the topics, not
naming any names, as the truth has already been told and so much better.
Ralph Waldo Emerson, by many
thought to be the founder of the Transcendentalist movement, though he did
not wish to be known as such, has in his famous essays, the best of them
written between 1830 -1860, eloquently put in to words the Nature of our
existence, our connection to it all as well as the consequences of our
thinking and behavior on the lives we live both for ourselves and those
around us.
With sensitivity and poise he
writes and shows the world that he was ahead of his time. Once you start
reading his essays, like uncovering the enigma within one of his most
controversial essays Nature, you quickly realize that he is certainly
ahead of our time as well. A visionary, truth speaker and a revolutionist
in his own right Ralph Waldo Emerson gives thought to subjects, which
still to this day concern us the most, such as Love, Politics and History
just to name a few.
When taking into consideration
the times he lived in you find such admiration for this man, as he tackled
the church, the educational system, society and many other systems
bravely, questioning them for their validity and purpose. It is so
satisfying to read and everything he writes translates so well into the
world that we live in today. We have in fact not come that far, which may
in itself be discouraging to discover, but at the same time we may just
finally be waking up as with any timeless classics there’s a reason why
they are timeless. We may just be ready to hear the words for what they
really are saying and Emerson truly said it all in the most poetic and
life transforming way.

Books 5 – 7 Harry Potter Series
By:
J. K. Rowling
Well after reviewing books 1
– 4 and catching the wild ride of wizarding adventures of Potter growing
from child to adult and student to master wizard, books 5 – 7 continue
to push the envelope of magical adventures.
They continue to feel magically real, as if perhaps they are indeed
real in another universe, unassumingly channeled to us by our talented
writer Rowlings.
The tale is so intricately
woven, with Harry faced all at once with his life’s purpose, fending off
the dark ones, learning what it’s like to have a crush, then fall in
love, losing a beloved mentor, growing from teenage wizard to wizard
master and teacher of defense against the dark arts and fending off
you-know-who; very heavy topics neatly woven into this magical wild ride !
This reviewer’s best pick of
the three would be the Deathly Hallows (ok best of the 7 for that matter);
all the many threads entwining Voldemort (oops I said his name) and Potter
are now brought to light in an intricate and timeless battle undertaken
only by those impassioned for life and love.
Learning about leadership and trusting himself, uncovering the
secret of the wands, conquering his greatest fear in his long awaited
final battle, and finally conquering the dark one – all adds up to a
Magical Masterpiece !
The only drawback - the last
chapter provides a glimpse of the future for the Potters, Weaselys and
Grangers - beginning the circle of wizarding life again – a nice try but
better left out of print and in our collective imagination.
I'm off to purchase the DVD’s
(oh well only Potter #1 – 4 are out as yet!). Why on earth is a
philosopher also a sorcerer? A mystical question from a mystical
reviewer……
